What is Facial Cupping?

Facial Cupping is a gentle therapy using soft silicon cups which are applied in conjunction with a facial elixir. This allows the cups to glide over the skin to sculpt and contour the face and neck. It’s extremely relaxing and at the same time promotes blood flow, tones the facial muscles as well as having internal health benefits.

The techniques used encourage lymphatic drainage which helps remove puffiness and clears the skin. The suction from the cups gently lifts the facial tissue, drawing blood flow towards the surface of the skin. This causes the skin to react as if it were being damaged and generates the body to start repairing the skin. This healing process stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which in turn improves the muscle tone and leaves the skin looking plumper and more radiant. Facial Cupping may also improve pigmentation, promoting a more even skin tone after only a few treatments.

Facial Cupping is a truly holistic treatment. It’s not only a deeply relaxing therapy; improves the muscle tone of the face and encourages lymphatic drainage; it also helps the body to let go of tension as the treatment releases emotions held in the face. Facial expressions can have an effect on the way we feel and how our body reacts. An angry expression can stimulate the release of stress hormones putting the body into a fight or flight response. Working over the facial tissues can have a positive response bringing the body back to being calm and relaxed.

What happens during a treatment?

You will only need to remove your footwear and top (you can keep your bra on) and slip under the blanket on to the warm padded couch. The start of this treatment is similar to Facial Reflexology and Zone Face Lift. As the treatment starts, your mind and body will slowly relax with some gentle massage on the upper arms, shoulders, neck and head. Next a towel is placed over the head to protect the hair from oil and keep it off the face during the treatment. An organic cleanser from Inlight is applied over the face and décolletage (skin on your neck and chest area) and all make up and impurities are removed with a hot towel. A gorgeous facial elixir is then applied to allow the facial cups to glide easily over the skin.

Using specific techniques, the cups create suction and glide over the upper chest, neck, jawline, cheeks, forehead and around the eyes and lips lifting and sculpting the facial structures and encouraging lymphatic drainage.

The treatment closes with a few minutes of relaxing massage on the face, neck and shoulders and some cool, smooth crystals are used to help cool the face. Another hot towel is place over the face to remove any excess facial oil.

How long is the treatment?

This is a 45-minute treatment but you can also add 15 minutes on to any facial treatment. It tags on well to Facial Reflexology, Holistic Facial or Zone Face Lift treatments

How often should I have a treatment?

For hay fever, sinus congestion, scars and headaches, I would recommend having weekly Facial Cupping treatments for 6 weeks, then to continue with monthly treatments to maintain the results. If you are having Facial Cupping for Bells Palsy then I would recommend having 3 treatments in a week for the first two weeks and then maintain the results by stretching the treatments to fortnightly/monthly.

If you are having Facial Cupping for the lifting and sculpting benefits, I would recommend the 12-week programme. Can I purchase the facial cups?

Yes. I have pairs of cups available (which include small and medium cups) for £25 a set. On purchase, you will be given a self care facial chart and I will guide you through the techniques and routine so you can continue treating yourself between your treatments.
