What is Aromatherapy?
I use therapeutic grade essential oils in my Aromatherapy massage treatments. Aromatherapy
works on different levels, including the sense of smell, and through absorption via skin. During aromatherapy massage the tiny molecules in the Essential Oils penetrate through the skin. The molecules travel through the epidermis (the top layer of skin) reaching the dermis (a deeper layer of skin) and to the blood vessels allowing them to circulate through to all body areas; for example, the liver, kidneys and some muscle groups.
Physiological & Psychological Benefits of Aromatherapy
Therapeutic grade essential oils have similar, and effective, pain-relieving properties that are
present in pharmaceutical analgesics. However, Essential Oils have fewer side effects than many modern drugs and they also help to reduce stress and make you feel more relaxed. We utilise Essential Oils for effective pain management and in treating many inflammatory conditions. Essential oils are excellent remedies to treat the pain associated with arthritis, low- back pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, nerve pain or sciatica. Essential Oils will probably make you feel, nurtured, and deeply relaxed, with an “afterglow”.
